It's been a while.

A lot of things are running in my mind. I just want a very good sleep, but why can't I?

How to cry? Why do I find it difficult to release tears from my eyes? Damn, life is so high maintenance.

"Index-Card-A-Day Challenge-The Artist by Heart's Haven"

What can you do into a simple thing like a piece of paper with an empty surface like an index card? Have you had to write any notes you chat down while listening into your teacher's lecture? Writing your profile such as your name, year and section, contact number or any possible information as necessary or even putting on your 1"x 1" wacky photo?

Well, if that's the only thing you all know about index card then you lack knowledge about doing something more creative and useful thing you can do with that. Have you ever think any possible ways you could to transform this tiny card into a very unique and lovely masterpiece?

I may sound too knowledgeable about this itchy-bitchy thing, but then you are under my trick because believe it or not I too was unaware about this "index card agenda." Till I was able to learned that there was this ICAD Challenge  or Index-Card-A-Day which will be hosted by Ms. Tammy Garcia starting on June 1 and will end on July.

This activity will run for 61 days and all you need to do is just doodle, sketch, color, sew, stamp or anything you want to do with 3”x5” index card.

Everything is in your hand to beautify and enjoy what you’re doing. Help Ms. Tammy Garcia and others to spread the ICAD Love by sharing and posting your works through ICAD Facebook Page and ICAD Flickr Page

I am a newbie here but with all of the past works I saw by others who participated the challenge for the past three years, I can say that it is a very fun thing to do especially in my spare time. In the Philippines, ICAD challenge is so unusual but if it will be the very first time that I will be joining the challenge I can say that I might be the first Filipino to join this activity.

Guess what? Tomorrow will be the start of this challenge, and I have nothing to present you for now because the day after this will just be the very exciting moment for me and today I will just be so proud and confident to invite everyone all over the world to join this annual index card challenge....

In just an overnight sleep, and a few moment of dreaming my journey for index card will begin so wait and see my work...

SOJOURN TO THE KINGDOM OF SUGBU

Let's take a short while and have some travel story! This post was very late and  I should have posted this before but I was quite lazy and crazy by that time! HAHAHA! This is our tour in Cebu City, I hope that you will be entertained with this! :')

Cebu City, Philippines
Historical/ City Tour

A calm morning greeted us as the sunshine smile unto us in the 12th day of February 2013. The day had brought as a meaningful time to enjoy our tour as we are learning and traveling around Cebu City on this very day.

Before a long wayward to our journey exploring the Kingdom of Sugbu or the ever known province of Cebu, we decided to fill in first our empty stomach at the Hotel Fortuna. Hotel Fortuna is the place where we spent our 2 night resting ourselves after a long day of hauling around Cebu. It was about 0800H to 0830H that we had our breakfast and another thirty minute to pamper ourselves before proceeding on a long day walking under the tall sun and calculating time for  every destination to fit in our “though flexible but horrible day.” Well it was kind of horrible for us because we are not descending there and we don’t know any means of transportation to get into the place that we must locate.

It was about 0900H since we left our hotel in order for us to conform to our activity for this day, doing the itinerary. At this time we depart Hotel Fortuna and we had our walking tour for the first destination which is Malacaňan sa Sugbo. We arrived there within the 25 minute walking and crossing the street.

As we were walking, we had a single minute dropped by at the Islands Souvenirs near the Magellan’s cross. This amenity attracts tourist to shop inside and have their “pasalubong” such as shirts and other memorabilia because of their attention-seeker life-sized signage of I <3 Cebu.

25 minutes later, 0925H, we arrived at Malacaňan sa Sugbo, the seat of the Cebu government during the early years. As said by our tour guide, Kuya Lito during our city tour, this is the place where our ex-President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo stays and spent her time when she was in Cebu during her reign as the Philippine President.

We depart there around 0930H to proceed to our next destination.

We walked around the Fort for about 30 minutes and at 1013H we vacate the place for our next destination.

Just a few minute walk, we approached the Fort San Pedro one of the early Fort in Cebu. This is similar to the walled-city in Manila commonly known as Intramuros.

It was 0940H when we get there had ourselves ready to get inside the fort.

(Photo captured at the lobby area of this attraction)

We collect PHP20 each person as an entrance fee to have a passage to the Fort.

It is the discounted rate for the students in order to enter the fort but for the regular tourist, the rate is PHP30 per Pax.

(This is the inside part of the port)

Going further this place you can explore the rich culture of Cebu and its varied history. You can see inside some memorabilia and other paintings and photographed that introduces Cebu’s priceless culture and history. Above this page you can notice the painting which is a portrait of Queen Juana, the Wife of King Humabon. Queen Juana is praying to Sto.Niňo to protect and to heal the people of Sugbu. Beside is a shed where tourist can stay and rest in a short while.

This one is a sample of the compiled photographed and other things that shows the mark of their history and early living.

We walked around the Fort for about 30 minutes and at 1013H we vacate the place for our next destination.

In just two minutes you could get to Plaza Independencia. We’ve been there at 1015H; just a few meters walk from the Fort San Pedro.

The park commemorates the independence between the Japanese and Filipino war and to the soldiers who died during those times.

You can explore the park and rest for a while if you feel that you’re kind of a tired traveler. If you are to turn around, you can see tourist like you looking around the vicinity of the place and taking pictures of there.
(In the picture is an old man sitting and reading the bible.)

Some kind of attraction in the park is the monument of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, one of the early conquistadors in the Philippines who landed on Cebu during the Spanish Era.
The monument is another landmark in the Plaza Independencia that memorialized the contribution of this man to the treasured history of the Cebuanos.
We walked around the Fort for about 30 minutes and at 1013H we vacate the place for our next destination.

The monument is offered to all the people who died during the war between the Philippines and Japan.

At 1035H we depart the Plaza Independencia and rode a jeepney/cab routing Mabolo, the fare is PHP7.00 for student and the regular price is PHP8.00.
In just about 15 minutes traveling time we arrived at Museo Sugbo, the famous museum in the local of Cebu City. As cited in the museum plaque, the Cebu Provincial Museum was inaugurated by Hon. Gwendolyn Garcia, the Governor of Cebu, together with the Cebu Provincial Board on August 5, 2008.
(The picture shows the façade of the Cebu Provincial Museum)

There is a PHP10.00 entrance fee for every student who presented their ID and about PHP30.00 for the local and PHP50.00 for the foreigners.
The museum is composed of 11 galleries of different types. Each gallery offers different story to tell about the early living of the Cebuanos. This picture features some memorabilia that soldiers used during the Spanish era.

Some gallery gives a taste of our national costume which promotes our heritage being a Filipino. This picture on the left shows a mannequin wearing Maria Clara dress, one of the past dresses worn by women known for possessing the quality of purity and elegance.

Entering the Media Gallery you can see this machine, which is one of the first printing machines used in publications of newspapers from the past. As you stroll around this part of the museum you can find all the old machinery used by the press and some other publications.

In another side of the museum is the Handumanan Gallery, The Rocita R. Arcenas Collection of Bisayan Santos. At this portion of the museum is the collection of Bisayan old replicas of Santos such us this one in the picture, Santo Niňo, Crucifix and other different type of religious artifacts.

The last gallery we visited it the chamber for art. This part of the museum consists of the paintings made by the students who came from the different types of state colleges and universities in Cebu.

(The painting is about the poor Badjaos’ begging for money and asking for food.)

We took a little shot before going back to our hotel for our lunch.

Behind us is the entrance of the museum. It is our last picture taking after the rain stopped showering its blessing.
We depart the museum at 1055H and we head back to Hotel Fortuna for our Lunch. We rode a cab routing Colon for about 30 minutes drive back to hotel and another PHP7.00 charge for jeepney fare.

Another fun shot from Museo Sugbu! It had been a very long trip for us in this place but we learned a lot from our past history most especially of Cebu's custom and tradition.

************************************************************************

The time is 1230H when we had our lunch at the Hotel Fortuna and around 1340H we departed to continue our city tour. We rode a jeepney routing Jones Avenue to Fuente Osmeňa and our travel time is about 25 minutes. We arrived at the Authority of the Government, the municipal hall at around 1405H.

The Authority of the Government is the seat of Cebu Provincial Government.

We had a little time in picture taking around the lobby of the Municipal Hall.
We bonded there as we were observing the unique architectural design of this place.
At around 1410H we depart the destination and another walking tour from the municipal hall to our next stop.

We locate the Rizal Memorial Library and Museum thru walking tour at around 1420H.
We passed by at this place in just a little while and we depart at 1425H.

We took another walk for 5 minutes and we reach the Fuente Osmeňa Park.
This monument is a tall structure that creates an impression of giving honor to Fuente Osmeňa. The park is a kind of place suited for lovers who just want to sit back and have some time to enjoy the moment.

What’s good in this place is to enjoy the trees surrounding the circled park. For us, the best place to stay here and have yourself relaxed is sitting under this cherry blossom- liked tree.
We depart the park at 1435H and proceeded to Robinson’s Fuente

In just a one way crossing the street we arrived at Robinsons’ Fuente by the time 1440H and had ourselves a few hours to stroll around and be refreshed after a long day touring across Cebu City.
At 1505H, we depart the mall and had our way back to Hotel Fortuna. We arrived at the hotel around 1530H and that’s the point where our tour had ended and had some rest.
XXX END OF TOUR XXX

We are assigned to create our own itinerary so this is where we came up. We're not yet an expert so there are some mistakes that we made.
